Salary range: $103,689.18 - $108,799.42 per annum dependent on skills, qualifications and experience. Changes to $107,836.74 - $113,151.39 from July 1, 2025.

Job Description

Opportunity: The City of Albany is seeking a qualified and experienced Senior Planning Officer – Strategic to join our Planning Services Team. In this leadership role, you will:

 

  • Oversee strategic planning projects and developer-led proposals.
  • Provide expert advice on complex planning matters.
  • Collaborate on placemaking initiatives.
  • Support development assessments as needed.
  • Lead continuous improvement of internal planning processes.

Desired Skills and Experience

About You: The successful candidate will require:

  • A degree in urban and regional planning (or equivalent).
  • At least 5 years’ experience in statutory and strategic planning.
  • Strong leadership, mentoring, and project management skills.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and time management abilities.
  • Experience with development applications, scheme amendments, structure plans, and policy development.
  • FPA Level 1 Bushfire Assessor certification (desirable).
