Job Description

Opportunity: The City of Albany’s Ranger Team is looking for an experienced and passionate individual to be part of their Ranger team in fire mitigation. 

Reporting to the Senior Ranger, this role will see you responsible for conducting fire break and property inspections for compliance with fire management notice from 18 November 2024 to 15 March 2025 with the potential to extend depending on weather and soil conditions extending the fire season.

You will also be required but not limited to;

 

  • Playing a key role in ensuring compliance with the Fire Management Notice (FMN) and the Bush Fires Act within the district.
  • Engaging with the public and stakeholders to promote fire prevention and safety through education and community outreach.
  • Investigating complaints, enforcing legislation, and participating in legal processes related to bushfire prevention and regulatory compliance.

Desired Skills and Experience

About You:    

  • Demonstrated excellent interpersonal skills and with the ability to build positive relationships with people within and outside the team.
  • Experience in Bush Fire Mitigation and enforcement of Local Government Fire Management Notices under the Bush Fire Act 
  • Strong customer service focus and commitment.
  • Well-developed verbal, written and computer literacy skills
  • Well-developed time management and organisational skills.
  • Ability to interpret Acts or other legislation.
  • General off-road and four-wheel driving experience desirable; and
  • Experience or willingness to learn how to investigate breaches, collect evidence, and participate in legal processes, including attending court as needed.
