Job Description

Opportunity: The City of Albany’s Ranger Team is looking for an experienced, passionate and customer focused individual to take up the role as Senior Ranger.

Reporting to the Ranger Coordinator, this role will see you responsible for, but not limited to:

  • Supervising, supporting, and coordinating the day-to-day activities of an experienced team of Rangers and administrative staff.
  • Actioning initiatives to increase community awareness and compliance with relevant State and Local Laws.
  • Maintaining high standards of law, order, and public safety in accordance with legislation, Local Laws, and the City’s policies and community objectives.
  • Providing high-level information, guidance, and customer service to the local community, visitors, and stakeholders.
  • Implementing delegated Acts, Local Laws, and City policies, with a strong focus on education and community engagement.
  • Fostering a positive workplace environment that encourages teamwork, recognises performance, and promotes professional development.

Desired Skills and Experience

About You: The successful candidates will require;

  • Well-developed leadership skills with experience in facilitating a positive work environment that encourages and promotes individual and team performance;
  • Well-developed written and verbal communications skills;
  • Strong presentation skills with the ability to convey information in a variety of formats in a clear, logical manner and maintain audience engagement.
  • Demonstrated experience with community engagement activities;
  • Well-developed negotiation and conflict resolution skills;
  • Comprehensive knowledge of relevant legislation, statutory investigations and legal procedures, and prosecutions as applicable to Ranger Services;
  • At least 5 years of direct experience as a local government Ranger or in a similar regulatory environment; and
  • A certificate in Regulatory Officer Compliance Skills (ROCS) 1 and 2.

If you have at least 5 years’ experience working as a Local Government Ranger with considerable experience in animal handling, administration and enforcement of legislation and are passionate about working for the City of Albany please apply.
