Job Description

Opportunity: The City of Albany’s IT Team is seeking an experienced and motivated Cyber Security Officer to help safeguard the City’s information and systems against cyber threats.

Reporting to the Manager IT, this role will see you responsible for:

  • Identifying, assessing, and mitigating cyber security risks;
  • Monitoring and responding to security incidents and threats;
  • Implementing and maintaining security controls, tools, and procedures;
  • Ensuring compliance with security standards and frameworks such as Essential 8 and ISO/IEC 27000;
  • Delivering security awareness training and promoting a culture of security across the organisation; and
  • Supporting the City’s CCTV and electronic security systems.

Desired Skills and Experience

About You: We are seeking a proactive team player with excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. You will have relevant qualifications in Information Technology (minimum Cert III or equivalent) and experience in a cyber security role. A cyber security certification (e.g. CompTIA Security+) will be highly regarded.
